1st page Newby needs help

  • Just installed 1st Page after advertising on e bay. All I want to do is use the adverts I have on my web space as the description on my e bay advert.

    This isn't as easy as it seems, e bay cannot access my web site for some reason.

    I just want to put my template off my site into the description box........... thats all.

    Got 1st page but have not got a clue were to go from here.

  • I have never used ebay before but what do you mean by a description box? You might be able to use an iframe but ebay probably blocks it to protect against xss hacks.

  • I believe I do understand what you're trying to do, but let me restate to be sure.

    You have created content in 1st Page that you want to post on Ebay as part of the description for an item you're selling, right?

    When you go to list an auction lot on Ebay, you have a Description field as part of the listing process, and it allows HTML.

    In theory, there's no reason you can't take the HTML code from the document you created in 1st Page, copy the entire thing to your windows clipboard (CTRL+A to highlight all, then CTRL+C to copy) and then paste it into the Description field in your Ebay listing (CTRL+V). I've done that very thing, and it worked great for me. :)

    However, if you have images, javascripts or other items that are separate files from your HTML code, you'll have some trouble getting them to work in this way because they're only located on your local hard disk... not on Ebay's server. And Ebay won't host them, I've bugged them about it. (Technically, they DO host pictures but you apparently can't link to them remotely with any reliablity).

    So my question to you is... what exactly is happening when you try to do this? Are you getting error messages? Are you seeing part of your content but not all of it on Ebay? Can you give us more info? :)
